Since I brought her foal home, everything feels different. After everything she went through, I didn’t know how she would react. I was honestly a little nervous bringing him back, because I didn’t know if she would recognize him or how she would respond after all that time. The first moment was very quiet. She looked at him from a distance at first, then slowly walked closer, step by step, like she didn’t want to scare him or maybe didn’t believe it was real. And then… she recognized him. You could see it instantly. She didn’t panic, she didn’t run… she just stayed there, close to him, breathing slowly, like something inside her finally settled again.

The first days were very simple, almost quiet. They stayed together all the time, never really separating. She wouldn’t let him go far, always keeping him in her sight, and he kept coming back to her naturally, like he knew exactly where he belonged. I didn’t try to interfere too much. I just watched them from a distance, gave them food, made sure everything was calm, and let them reconnect at their own pace. It felt like they were rebuilding something without needing any help, just being close again.

As the days went by, everything became more natural. They started moving around more, eating together, walking side by side without hesitation. You could see the difference compared to the beginning. She was more relaxed, and him too. There was no more tension, no more hesitation in the way they acted. It just felt normal again, like they had always been together. Seeing that change little by little was probably the most satisfying part.

Then one evening, I saw something that really stayed with me. They were both lying down together, completely calm. The foal resting right next to her, and her just staying there, watching over him without moving. No stress, no alert, just quiet. That’s when I realized everything was truly okay. Not just physically, but for real. They were at peace. That kind of moment is simple, but you feel it when you see it.

Now, they spend their days in the field together. He runs around freely, sometimes a bit too fast, and she follows him or just watches him from a distance. They always stay close, even when they move around. It’s simple, nothing spectacular, just everyday life… but after everything that happened, it means a lot. After losing him once, she has him back, and you can feel that nothing else matters now.
